A different perspective. The same extraordinary planet.

THE WORLD, IN PROPORTION

A world worth seeing differently.

Meet Equal Earth. World maps that give every continent its fair share of space. Made for curious minds and considered walls.

01 / The maps

Two ways to see the world.

Political boundaries or the contours of the Earth. The same honest sense of scale.

02 / EQUAL EARTH

There is no perfect map. There is a better question.

What do you want your map to show? Equal Earth preserves relative area, so Africa, Greenland and every place in between occupy their true share of the world. Shapes still change. That is the trade-off.

NEWMAP.WORLD / The interactive map lab

One Earth. Six new perspectives.

Choose a country. Compare its area. Or put the world map to the test.

The same country in two projections.

Both maps share a centre and zoom. Africa occupies equal area at the baseline scale. Choose a region or hover over it.

Data, scale and limitations

Natural Earth 1:50m, version 4.1.0 (world-atlas 2.0.2), public domain. These are historical de facto boundaries, not a current official boundary statement. Missing small territories remain selectable and are labelled. Africa aggregates available African territory geometry using M49 assignment, including Somaliland; official totals may differ.

Does zoom keep the comparison fair?

Both maps share a geographic centre and zoom factor. Footprint metrics retain the fixed baseline before zoom.

Why do the areas differ from official statistics?

Boundary definitions, coastline simplification, islands and the spherical model affect estimates. Statistical references are labelled separately.

Can a flat projection preserve everything?

No. Mercator preserves local angles; Equal Earth preserves relative areas. Neither preserves every area, shape and distance simultaneously.
